WHAT 4-LETTER WORD has the power to turn your fantasy into reality? W-O-R-K. This is a simple concept, but surprisingly easy to overlook, especially for people with lots of ideas.

Sometimes we can become so infatuated with our ideas, and so proficient at developing elaborate plans that it can feel like we are really working and making progress. And while vision and imagination are always the start of something big, unless we follow up with real action we are merely chasing fantasies. And that just doesn’t make sense.

It’s like dreaming of a big and beautiful garden, and all the yummy vegetables you will harvest, but never planting a seed (which…ahem, is a scenario I am personally familiar with). It takes faith to plant that seed and wait for a sprout. And it takes discipline to daily tend the sprout until you can eventually enjoy the fruit. But that is the only way to create real abundance.

Dreams are important, but they are just the seed. Take action. Plant the seed. Work is the only path to abundance.

Insight to Action

I live up in my head. I am an idea person. Granted, sometimes I am really working when I daydream – people pay me for my ideas. Then they take the ideas, take action, and make them real. So it has taken me a while to realize that when it comes to my own projects, I have to be the one to take action. Her Worth has taken seven years to bring to life. Part of the delay has been because I overlooked the very simple wisdom which dictates that big dreams require small action to start.

For me that has meant:

1.

Defining the vision in terms of deliverables – items I want to create.

2.

Writing down action steps required to produce those deliverables.

3.

Adding these action steps to a calendar. (This is essential)

4.

Doing them.

Until those four things happen, the action remains in fantasyland. The seeds remain unplanted, and no harvest will be had.

I’d love to hear from you. Are you chasing a fantasy? Do you have a big idea that has been like a seed inside of you waiting to germinate? Share your dream with a reply below, list the first deliverable you need to produce in order to plant the seed, and include a date for delivering it. Set it down in writing here, and let me (and others) lift it up with prayer. Here’s to your abundant harvest!
